Invisalign at Precision Dental Care

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses a series of clear, BPA-free aligners to move teeth gradually into position. Each tray is made for one stage of the plan and is swapped for the next every one to two weeks, so the movement happens in small, controlled increments rather than through adjustments at the chair. The practical difference from fixed braces is that the trays come out: you eat what you like, you brush and floss normally, and there is nothing on the front of your teeth in a photograph. The trade-off is that they only work while they are in, which is why the wear schedule matters more than anything else in the treatment.

What Invisalign Can Treat

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth Space is created and the teeth are rotated into line.
  • Gaps and spacing Teeth are drawn together to close the spaces.
  • Overbite or underbite Many bite discrepancies respond well with proper planning.
  • Crossbite or open bite Assessed case by case from the digital scan.
  • Relapse after previous braces A common reason adults start a short course of aligners.

How Treatment Runs

  • Digital scanning The iTero scanner takes 3D images — no impression trays and no putty.
  • Treatment plan The tooth movements are mapped in digital modelling software.
  • Custom aligners Your trays are produced with 3D printing technology.
  • Wear schedule 20 to 22 hours a day, changing trays every one to two weeks.
  • Progress checks We review you every six to eight weeks.
  • Typical duration Most cases finish in six to eighteen months.

Why Patients Choose Aligners

  • Virtually invisible Most people will not notice you are wearing them.
  • Removable Eat, brush and floss without working around brackets and wires.
  • Comfortable Smooth plastic, with nothing to catch the inside of your lip.
  • Predictable The plan is digital from the first scan to the final tray.

Retainers: Holding the Result

Once the teeth are where you want them, the last stage matters as much as the first. Retainers hold the new positions while the bone and soft tissue around the teeth stabilize; without one, teeth tend to drift back. We make clear Essix-style retainers, which are virtually invisible, traditional Hawley retainers with a wire and acrylic base, and fixed retainers bonded discreetly behind the front teeth. If aligners are not the right fit, compare CandidPro clear aligners, Fastbraces or the wider picture on our orthodontics page.

The short answer

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that straightens teeth with a series of clear, BPA-free aligners. Each set of trays is worn for one to two weeks before moving to the next, so teeth shift in small, controlled steps. The aligners come out to eat, brush and floss, but they only work while they are worn.

Invisalign FAQ

How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of Invisalign varies with the complexity of the case. We give you the figure in writing before treatment starts, offer payment plans, and accept most plans that include orthodontic benefits. Your case is planned digitally from a 3D scan, so you can see where the treatment is going before you commit.
Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign is not usually painful, though you may feel pressure for the first day or two of each new tray. Most patients find it comfortable after that. The trays are smooth plastic with nothing to catch the inside of your lip, and the teeth move in small, controlled increments.
How long do I need to wear the aligners each day?
Wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. They only move teeth while they are in, so the wear schedule is what determines the result. In practice that means taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth.
Can I eat with my aligners in?
No, you should not eat with your aligners in. Take them out for anything other than water, then brush before putting them back. Because the trays come out, you can eat what you like and brush and floss normally.
How do I clean the aligners?
Rinse and brush your aligners in lukewarm water daily, and use cleaning crystals or a solution when they need it. Avoid hot water, which can distort the plastic. Brushing your own teeth before putting the trays back in keeps them clean between changes.
Will Invisalign work as well as braces?
For most mild to moderate cases, Invisalign works as well as braces. We will tell you honestly if your case is better served by fixed braces. The difference is that the aligners come out, so they only work while they are worn, and the wear schedule matters more than anything else.
What if I lose an aligner?
If you lose an aligner, call us. Depending on where you are in the sequence, we will either move you to the next set or order a replacement. Each tray is made for one stage of the plan, so keeping the sequence on track protects the result.
Can Invisalign fix an overbite or underbite?
Yes, Invisalign can fix many overbites and underbites with proper planning. The digital scan tells us what is achievable for your bite. Crossbite and open bite are assessed case by case from that same scan.
Is Invisalign suitable for teenagers?
Yes, Invisalign is suitable for teenagers. Invisalign Teen is designed for growing patients and includes compliance indicators on the trays. Teens and adults alike are candidates, and the indicators help show whether the trays are being worn as planned.
How long does treatment take?
Most Invisalign cases finish in six to eighteen months, depending on complexity and on how consistently the trays are worn. Trays are changed every one to two weeks, and we review your progress every six to eight weeks. Once the teeth are in place, a retainer holds the new positions while the bone and soft tissue stabilize.
