Dentures at Precision Dental Care

A denture replaces missing teeth with an appliance you can take out, and a well-made one does far more than fill a gap. It restores the support your lips and cheeks lose when teeth are gone, so the face keeps its proportions; it gives you back a surface to chew on and the consonants you need to speak clearly; and it stops the teeth you still have from drifting into the space. What separates a denture you forget you are wearing from one that never feels right is almost entirely the accuracy of the fit — which is why ours are built in the lab inside this building rather than posted to an outside facility, and why the person who made yours can adjust it in the same appointment.

What a Denture Gives Back

  • A natural facial appearance The appliance restores the support the missing teeth used to give your lips and cheeks.
  • Clearer speech and proper chewing Both come back once the fit and the bite are right.
  • Confidence in company A denture that stays put is one you stop thinking about.
  • Protection for the teeth that remain Filling the gap stops the neighboring teeth drifting.
  • An affordable, customizable route There is a design at most budgets, and we will show you the range.

The Types We Make

  • Complete Dentures For a whole upper or lower arch. Custom made to sit securely on the gums and shaped to look and feel like natural teeth.
  • Partial Dentures Where some natural teeth remain, the partial fills the gaps and anchors to those teeth for stability.
  • Implant-Supported Dentures Anchored to implants placed in the jaw. No slipping, far more chewing power, and the bone underneath keeps its stimulus.
  • Immediate Dentures Fitted the same day as extractions, so you are never without teeth while the gums heal.

What to Expect

  • Consultation and exam Digital X-rays, an assessment of the gums and bone, and a conversation about what you want back.
  • Digital impressions The iTero scanner builds a precise model without a tray of putty.
  • Design Shape, size and shade are chosen with you, and Digital Smile Design can preview the result.
  • Fabrication in our lab Built here, in high-quality materials, by the technician you can talk to.
  • Fitting and adjustment The fit is corrected on the spot rather than across another appointment.
  • Follow-up We check the fit as the gums settle and reline when it is needed.

Caring for Your Dentures

  • Clean them daily Take them out and brush them every day.
  • Soak them overnight In a denture-cleaning solution, not hot water.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners They scratch the surface and make staining worse.
  • Brush your gums, tongue and palate each morning The tissue underneath needs cleaning too.
  • Keep your checkups We assess fit, the gums and the bone, and adjust as things change.

The short answer

A denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth. It restores the support your lips and cheeks lose when teeth are gone, gives you a surface to chew on, helps you speak clearly, and stops your remaining teeth from drifting into the gap. Dentures can be complete, partial, immediate or implant-supported.

Dentures FAQ

How long do dentures last?
With proper care, dentures can last five to ten years. Periodic adjustments and relining are normal as the gums and bone change shape. We check the fit as the gums settle and reline when it is needed, and daily cleaning and regular checkups help them last.
Are dentures painful to wear?
Dentures can feel awkward at first while you get used to them, but they should not stay painful. Any discomfort usually settles with adjustment and time, and sore spots are exactly what an adjustment appointment is for. Because our lab is in the building, the fit is corrected on the spot rather than across another appointment.
Can I eat normally with dentures?
Yes, you can eat normally with dentures once you have adjusted to them. Start with softer foods and reintroduce variety as you adjust. Proper chewing comes back once the fit and the bite are right, and implant-supported dentures give back the most chewing power.
How do implant-supported dentures differ from regular ones?
Implant-supported dentures are anchored to implants placed in the jaw rather than resting on the gums. That means more stability, better chewing power and less bone loss over time. Because they are anchored, they do not slip, and the bone underneath keeps its stimulus.
Will my dentures look natural?
Yes, your dentures will be made to look natural. The shape, size and shade are chosen with you, and Digital Smile Design can preview the result. Because the lab is on site, the technician can compare the work against your own face.
Do I need to take my dentures out at night?
Yes, you should take your dentures out at night. Removing them lets the gums rest and helps prevent irritation and infection. Soak them overnight in a denture-cleaning solution rather than hot water, and brush your gums, tongue and palate each morning.
How often should I come in once I have dentures?
Once you have dentures, come in every six to twelve months. At those visits we check the fit, the gums and your general oral health. Because the gums and bone change shape over time, these checkups are when we adjust or reline the denture as things change.
What are the signs my dentures need adjusting?
Dentures need adjusting if they feel loose, rub a sore spot, or make it harder to speak or chew. Call us when you notice any of these; it is a fit problem, and it is fixable. Because the lab is inside the practice, the person who made your denture can adjust it in the same appointment.
Can I move from traditional dentures to implant-supported ones later?
Yes, you can move from traditional dentures to implant-supported ones later, and many patients do. We assess the bone from a cone beam scan to see what is possible. Implant-supported dentures do not slip, give far more chewing power and keep stimulus in the bone underneath.
Will insurance cover my dentures?
Many insurance plans offer partial coverage for dentures. We verify your benefits before treatment and give you the estimate in writing. There is a denture design at most budgets, we will show you the range, and financing is also available.
