Oregon Urology Institute has a Full-time, Surgery Scheduler opportunity available.

Oregon Urology Institute is one of the largest, most advanced urological centers in the Northwest. Oregon Urology Institute and Oregon SurgiCenter provides patients with some of the region's finest medical experts covering every major urological specialty using proven and leading-edge technologies such as robotic surgery, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with local hospitals or surgery center, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing and post ops, writing, and communicating surgery orders, communicating with prior authorization department regarding insurance requirements. This individual works closely with patients, physicians, and surgery location to providing accurate, timely, and responsive paperwork.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Overview of Surgery Schedulers duties include but are not limited to:

Coordinates and schedules surgeries and post-op/follow-up appointments as designated by physicians.
Interacts with patients, physicians, and other staff both within the Clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
Answer questions regarding paperwork involved for compliance with surgical procedures.
Schedule surgeries based on surgeons' schedules and hospital/surgery center available block times/dates.
Arrange on-site testing and outpatient procedures, answers patient questions regarding their appointments and testing.
Order labs and imaging with correct diagnosis information per provider discretion.
Respond to patients' queries regarding surgery times and recommended prep instructions if necessary.
Ascertain that all consent forms are filled out and signed prior to scheduled surgeries.
Walk patients and families through instructions about "things to do" before and after surgeries.
Schedule post-surgical appointments with doctors and necessary tests
Answers telephone or return voicemails in a timely manner.
Able to greet patients and visitors.
Performs other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent Patient Service skills and abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills required.
Communication by telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1-2 years relevant medical experience or equivalent
Prior surgical/procedure scheduling in a private medical office or hospital setting, preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
Must have great interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Must be flexible and quick learner.
Experience working in a windows-based EMR/PM
Working knowledge of healthcare insurance.
ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate with patients and families effectively and professionally.
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with Interdepartmental personnel.
All candidates must pass a drug screen, reference, and background check to be considered for employment.
