Sr. Network Engineer – Ashburn, VA (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $80–84/hr on W2

Duration: 12+ Months (Extendable)

Location: Ashburn, VA (Onsite – Data Center)

Overview :

Hiring a Network Engineer for a 12+ month onsite contract in Ashburn, VA . Role involves deploying and managing large-scale network infrastructure in a data center environment. Must have 6+ years of experience with routing/switching protocols (BGP, MPLS, etc.), network design, and hands-on hardware work. Big Tech experience is a plus.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Deploy and configure network infrastructure in data centers and Points of Presence (POPs)
• Coordinate and execute deployment projects, then hand over to requestors
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to maintain lab network operations
• Perform maintenance tasks (upgrades, migrations, decommissions)
• Document deployments, update asset databases, and maintain as-built configurations
• Define best practices and contribute to scalable network solution designs
• Support new hardware/software platform integration
• Participate in a regional on-call rotation (24x7 support)

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale networks
• Strong knowledge of routing/switching protocols: BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, VRRP
• Familiarity with network protocols: TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, IPv4, IPv6
• Skilled in structured cabling and fiber-optic infrastructure
• Proven ability to manage multiple critical projects with minimal supervision
• Experience in multi-vendor network environments
• Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and attention to detail

Must-Have Skills:

1. Experience with network design and deployment
2. Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, VRRP
3. Excellent communication, a detail-oriented mindset, and a willingness to learn

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience working in a Big Tech environment
