We are seeking a qualified and passionate Remote Sign Language Interpreter to provide virtual interpretation services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a K12 educational setting in New Hampshire . The ideal candidate will facilitate real-time munication between students, teachers, staff, and families using American Sign Language (ASL) and other munication modalities as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:Provide real-time ASL interpretation during virtual classroom instruction, small group sessions, school-wide events, and one-on-one meetings.
Interpret both receptively and expressively between spoken English and ASL, maintaining accuracy, tone, and context.
Ensure accessibility and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in pliance with IEPs and Section 504 Plans.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, speech/language pathologists, and other service providers.
Prepare for lessons in advance by reviewing instructional materials and attending team meetings as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions per FERPA and school policies.
Support school staff in understanding Deaf culture and best practices for working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Assist with the use of assistive technology or captioning tools if needed.
Required:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Valid certification through EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) 3.5+ , RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) , or BEI (Board for Evaluation of Interpreters)
Meet New Hampshire interpreter requirements for educational settings
High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children in an educational or related setting
Reliable internet and private, quiet workspace for virtual interpreting
Preferred:
Experience in remote interpreting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
Familiarity with IEP process and educational terminology
Knowledge of Deaf culture, student support services, and inclusive practices
Background in K12 education or special education services
High-speed internet connection
Updated puter with webcam and audio capabilities
Familiarity with video relay/interpreting tools and secure school munication platforms
Willingness to adapt to school-specific virtual platforms
Strong interpersonal and munication skills
Flexibility and responsiveness to changing student needs

Time management and organizational skills
