URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a Network Engineering Intern with a solid foundation of Information Technology principles and procedures, and who is eager and willing to learn, switch gears quickly, and be comfortable expanding one's knowledge base. This internship will be a six-month program that could lead to a permanent position, but this is not guaranteed.

This is a paid internship ($16.66/hour ) and perfect for a current student studying Information Technology or Computer Science. We can be flexible around your school schedule as long as you can be available anytime between the following window: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Purpose

Our IT internships are focused around the basic duties and projects of an IT Infrastructure employee: Service Desk support; Endpoint support; Configuration Engineering support; Systems Administration support; Network Administration support; Server Engineering support; and Network Engineering support. We want to help prepare you for future opportunities and hope that you’ll bring us enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and positively contribute to our culture.

Education

Currently seeking or recently obtained a degree in Information Technology or Computer Science. For current students, we prefer a Senior Status.

Desired Skills & Experience

Ideal applicants have a growing knowledge of how to apply principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design & production of various goods and services, as well as to provide a positive, memorable interaction with the customers.

Proficiency Or Experience In The Following Is Desired

  • Work in concert with IT peers and management to design, implement, manage, and maintain network infrastructure in the URM customer WAN and enterprise network.
  • Configure, manage, and monitor network infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, integration, and configuration of new networking solutions in the URM architecture.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations requests of various network changes such as switch port VLAN changes, office relocations, Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) of VoIP Hardware.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem analysis in unplanned outages.
  • Participate in URMs weekly change control meetings and coordinate network changes when necessary.
  • May be required to occasionally work after hours/weekends for initiatives/projects.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation with other IT peers.
