We're seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our remote team, providing prehensive interpreting support to students across diverse educational environments. Position Overview

Step into a pioneering role where technology meets accessibility in educational settings. Our virtual interpreting program serves students across multiple districts, offering you diverse interpreting experiences while maintaining work-life balance. You'll provide interpreting services for approximately 8-12 students daily through secure virtual platforms, ensuring deaf and hard of hearing students have full access to their educational experience.

Core Responsibilities

Provide real-time American Sign Language interpreting for classroom instruction, educational meetings, and extracurricular activities conducted through virtual platforms. Your expertise will facilitate munication between deaf/hard of hearing students, teachers, administrators, and peers. Maintain professional interpreting standards while adapting traditional skills for virtual delivery methods.

Service Delivery Model

Utilize state-of-the-art video conferencing technology specifically designed for educational interpreting services. Provide simultaneous interpretation during live virtual classes, IEP meetings, parent conferences, and student presentations. The virtual format requires excellent technical skills while maintaining the visual clarity essential for effective sign language munication.

Student Population & Schedule

Work with students across elementary, middle, and high school levels, supporting various academic subjects and grade-appropriate content. Your schedule will include core academic classes, special education services, and school-related meetings. Flexible scheduling acmodates different time zones and varying student needs throughout the school day.

Professional Requirements

Maintain a structured schedule of 35-37 hours per week from your professional home office, with interpreting assignments coordinated to optimize student learning and participation. Consistent daily routine provides stability while flexible elements acmodate emergency situations and individual student requirements.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score is required, with preference given to candidates holding 4.0 EIPA scores or written EIPA certification. At least two years of experience providing interpreting services in educational settings is mandatory. RID/NIC certification with written test pletion is highly preferred but not required.

Technology & Remote Work Requirements

Proficiency with video conferencing platforms, lighting setup for optimal visual munication, and basic technical troubleshooting is essential. A professional home office with reliable high-speed internet, proper lighting, and neutral background ensures effective interpreting delivery. Technical support and equipment guidelines are provided.
