Position Summary

The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead Lean and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives across two manufacturing plants: Rush, NY and Sharon, PA. This role is critical to driving transformation, building lean culture, and delivering measurable operational excellence. This hands-on leader will work closely with site leadership and CI technicians, coach floor teams, and embed sustainable CI systems and tools aligned with business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain CI systems, including SQDC boards, 5S, Standard Work, SMED, TPM, and Leader Standard Work.
  • Develop and train team members in Lean tools and principles; mentor two CI Technicians and support their continued development.
  • Establish visual management systems and performance KPIs; regularly monitor and report progress using data-driven metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with site Plant Managers and the CI Director to align priorities and ensure execution of impactful CI projects.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve quality, streamline delivery, and reduce cost through Lean methodologies.
  • Lead implementation of full value stream pull systems (beyond line-side Kanban) and drive transformation from raw material to finished goods.
  • Facilitate the site’s Lean Steering Committee and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support capital planning by providing Lean input to project justification and ROI.
  • Apply ergonomics and safety best practices into CI strategy.
  • Benchmark best-in-class CI organizations and maintain professional development in Lean concepts and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8–10 years of progressive CI/Lean leadership experience in manufacturing

  • Demonstrated success in full value stream transformations (not just localized improvements)
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with experience using KPIs to measure improvement
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD for plant layouts is a plus
  • Experience managing or coaching small teams
  • Ability to influence and build trust with frontline employees and leadership alike
  • Willingness and ability to travel between Rush, NY and Sharon, PA, with occasional travel to other sites
